Looking to crew - Colombia to Panama
Hi, I’m currently travelling around South America with my partner. We want to get some more sailing experience from March 2025 onwards. First we are trying to find a boat from Colombia to Panama in March and then we want to try and go to the Caribbean around mid April.
We’re both easy going hard workers who can contribute to all tasks on board. We both have a bit of experience sailing and we are willing to share costs.
I am a Civil Engineer and I like to do a lot of DIY in my spare time so I have some good skills that come in handy on boats. Part of my work sees me doing condition surveys on marine structures for which I have a Coxswains licence in order to operate commercial boats.
I have a good knowledge of electrical, plumbing and rigging and can figure out how most things work. I also love fishing and I know how to prepare and cook fish so it would be great to find a boat that is ok with fishing.
Most of my sailing experience is limited to racing both in Melbourne and Auckland. I did a 5 week course in Auckland and then joined a crew racing an Elliot 30ft and also did a couple of longer races on different boats. I’ve owned a couple of fishing boats in my time and nowadays do a lot of fishing offshore on my hobie kayak.
My partner also has a bit of experience racing and she completed a trip around Tasmania aboard the Young Endeavour. We both recently went on a 4 day Sailing/diving trip out to the Great Barrier Reef so we have a basic knowledge of diving (no certs though)
We’re both easy going, we don’t have any dietary requirements, we’re relatively fit and we don’t smoke. We do enjoy a wine or beer of an evening.
Thanks
