Seeking Deckhand or Stewardess position
Hello,
I know you are busy looking for the right crew member to join you, so I shall be succinct. My name is Valerie, I'm 29 years old and I am British. I am seeking either a stewardess or deckhand position so that I can continue to transfer my career to the nautical world.
Hospitality experience -
I have a vast amount of experience in hospitality which is transferable to the yachting world. I have managed numerous restaurants and have organised a wine festival as well as a beer and cider festival. Strong background in serving high-end clientele etc and also managed a restaurant which had 3 rosettes (AA).
As I have a strong hospitality background I am an excellent communicator, great at working in high-pressure environments and working quickly. I am also used to working long hours etc and working on my feet. I pride myself on providing great customer service, being attentive and knowledgeable and acting with integrity in my work. As someone who has led teams, I understand the importance (especially at sea) of having a crew that you can rely on and trust.
I also have experience managing bars etc. and acting as a general ‘hostess’ etc., this is a role that comes very naturally to me and I am able to engage with a wide variety of people in a professional yet personable way.
Sailing experience -
Have spent a couple of weeks working as a flotilla skipper in Croatia
Possess RYA Day Skipper license
Possess VHF license
Possess STCW courses
Possess ENG1 Medical
I have about 900 nautical miles under my belt and have a good knowledge of collision regulations and chartwork. Being from the UK I am also accustomed to working with large tides. I am a good sailor (though I would love to learn more of course), and will make a competent and useful deckhand to any Captain.
Personality -
I don’t shy away from rising early and working hard. As I am very passionate about the nautical world, I find it easy to motivate myself and there will be no task that you find me shying away from. I’m naturally personable and easy going, definitely the last person to start drama etc. Very content and settled, very passionate about the nautical world and sailing etc. so you will find me with a smile on my face when at work.
As a professional, I am very hard-working and diligent in my work - always alert and thorough in what I do. Due to this, I am adept at picking up new skills etc.
I am clean, I can cook well and am easy to live with as I am thoughtful to others and mindful of personal space etc.
