To gain Cruising Experience, be Useful, to Learn- Looking for a Competent Crew, Voluntary work or Mile building position
Hello! Native Floridian here. To the point, I am looking to help on a boat in return for real experience out at sea.
I am actively taking steps towards my ultimate goal of cruising big parts of the year/ becoming a self sufficient sailor who can safely cross large bodies of water. I am ASA 101-103-104 certified and have 750 nm's under my belt after crewing on other boats (One found here on Crew Bay). When I can, I partake in crewing on larger SV's at the local race night on Thursdays as well as captain a smaller 21 ft sonar with friends on Friday race nights.
In the end it is the adventure, nature, freedom and general simplicity that draws me to this lifestyle. I have a hunch it's worth the effort and so I want to find out first hand if it is something I can base a life around.
Please reach out if you need an extra set of hands. Would love to chat and see if there's a part I can play on your trip.
Thanks,
-Hunter
Great crew member! (Greece to Sardinia)
On his journey to advance his sailing and cruising skills Hunter joined us for a 700nm trip from west Greece to northern Sardinia and it was a pleasure to have him on the boat! After showing him our systems in the first days we then felt very confident leaving him alone to do watches, even in the night. He is friendly, engaging, responsible, and we would highly recommend him to other prospective boats looking to match with crew. He also loves Italian pizza! Happy to provide further reference if needed :)
