Looking for a Crew position
Hi - I'm looking for an opportunity to crew on an Atlantic crossing (Canaries/Cape Verde to Caribbean). I am an experienced sailor (RYA yachtmaster) so I am competent to stand a watch and look after your boat within whatever remit we agree. I am not a chef, but I've made my share of reasonable meals at sea and happy to do so and I was a mechanic to trade in a previous life, so I'm more than able to pick up a screw driver or spanner when required. I also have some advanced 1st aid skills that hopefully we would never need. Non-smoker, no special diet (although happy to go vegetarian if that’s the boat diet) and I don’t get sea sick. I own my small cat and sail regularly in Scotland.
If you need crew to take a boat down to the Canaries earlier in the year, that would be a good chance for us to get to know each other and I'd be happy to help if I could fit around work commitments. I would prefer to do this in a catamaran, but happy to consider any well organised boat.
I would be looking to make this a qualifying voyage to complete my Ocean Yachtmaster, so I hope you won't mind me fighting with a sextant for 30 mins at mid day most days.
