Experienced crew member undertaking RYA Dayskipper
I have over 4000 nautical miles of experience as crew member. Some details below.
Currently I own an Investigator 563 trailer sailer which I race in Canberra and use for lake, river and coastal sailing. Before that I sailed my NS14 skiff on the lake for 10 years.
I'm doing the RYA Dayskipper theory course and expect to do the practical training early 2025.
In May 2024 I crewed on delivery of an Excess 11 catamaran 'Betty' (owned by Cumberland Charter Yachts) from Airlie Beach to Sanctuary Cove on the Gold Coast with stops in Mackay, Keppel Bay, Hervey Bay and the Great Sandy Strait.
In March and April 2024 I did 2634 NM as a crew member on a delivery of a 42ft catamaran 'Sea Dragon II' from Cebu in the Philippines to Townsville.
I have a good reference letter for another trip of about 1300 nm in late 2023. This included a 10 day passage from Lombok to Singapore, then several shorter legs up the Malacca Strait to Langkawi, in a 2-person crew on a 28ft monohull, 'Miss Tic'.
I'm keen to build my experience on various types of yachts.
I'm positive, optimistic, sensible, respectful and safe. I'm not a mechanic but pretty good at fixing things and problem solving. I can do basic first aid. I am a very strong swimmer.
I have been spending time in the sea and surf in south eastern NSW my whole life. I'm into swimming, diving, fishing and other watersports. I'm up for adventure and I've done a fair bit of self-reliant activities with a bit of risk and isolation, like multi day bushwalking including solo trips and navigating off trails etc.
Thanks for reading and happy sailing! Fair winds!
An excellent crew
Over 1000nm from lombok to langkawi together, fulfiled all expectations hard skills, soft skills, he is a good crew and a nice man. I enjoyed and highly recommend having him on board.
