Very experienced sailor available now in South America, anything considered

I'm a former yacht master instructor and professional skipper with many offshore passages to my name, including a solo transatlantic crossing and a trip to Antarctica. I have sailed about 50 000 miles, mostly as skipper or first mate on a variety of monohulls and catamarans up to 30 meters. I know the European Atlantic coast between Scotland and Gibraltar very well, and have also worked in the Med, Antarctica and the Caribbean. Having been the maintenance manager for a fleet of about forty boats, I'm pretty good at boat maintenance.
My sailing plans for the winter fell through, and I'm currently in Patagonia, ready for my next sailing trip as skipper, first mate, or just competent crew, to ... anywhere. Can travel within South America.
I have extensive professional experience in the catering and hospitality trade (I used to own a vegetarian / vegan restaurant), so a position as a cook or chef (vegetarian / vegan preferably) could also suit me.
I'm perfectly bilingual French and English, and I speak some Spanish.
I will not sail with smokers or heavy drinkers.
Being a father of two (now grown up) I'm fine with kids.

Q&A

6

Q: What is your favourite boat and why? The one I'm on. The other ones are just memories or fantasies

Q: What’s your favourite boating experience? sailing offshore with a fair wind. Give me the tradewinds anytime.

Q: Where’s your favourite boating destination? West of Ireland: uncrowded, beautiful, well sheltered anchorages, and friendly local. Usually plenty of wind for sailing.

Q: What is the longest passage you’ve completed without stops? Distance: Guadeloupe to Terceira (Azores), 2 handed with my then 16 years old son on a 42 foot catamaran (2900 miles) Time: Guadeloupe to Horta (Azores) Single handed on a 35 foot sloop (23 days)

Q: Gin and Tonic in a beautiful anchorage or trimming the sails to get an extra half knot? The extra speed. I'm not a racer, but I like sailing well . Besides, I rarely drink and certainly not G&T.

Q: What’s your worst boating experience? Sailing through thunderstorms on a single-handed passage from the Canaries to the Azores. Thunder and lighting all around the boat. It was like being on a battlefield, not knowing if the next hit is going to be for you. Andthe wind was all over the place.
