Let's go sailing and diving together!
Hello captain, thanks for your interest. I'm Sven, i love sailing and would love to be a productive and respectful member of your crew! I can be your deckhand, do night watches, be the watchkeeper and dive guide. I'm fit, eager to learn, easy going, a good listener and willing to contribute to the costs.
I'm a husband and dad working as a software engineer. I like water sports such as diving (~190 dives), wakeboarding, surfing, kitesurfing and snorkeling. I'm into both aerial and 360° photography and videography. I speak fluent English, German, and Dutch and French (B1 and still learning more).
I've sailed in the past, but since 2019 i've really gotten hooked, so i completed my SBF See ICC certificate in March 2020. I'm a PADI divemaster and also trained in rescue swimming and 1st aid. After sailing on the North Atlantic from the Canaries to Madeira in July 2020, in the Med in October 2020 and August 2021, and in the Bay of Biscay in 2022, i spent more than 6 months sailing and diving, from the Caribbean to French Polynesia with a crew of three.
Need a hand onboard and a dive guide/buddy? Let's get to know each other!
My motivation? I want to see the world in a slow, sustainable manner with enough time to get to know the individual destinations and the people living there. I like to be on the ocean and in the water. The idea of using the wind as energy source intrigues me. I also like being part of a team, self-sustaining, far away from civilization out on the sea where, during night watches, the sky is filled with stars.
Sailing on Journeyman
Sven joined the crew for 2 weeks in August. We had some great sailing with him along the Spanish coast in Galicia. Thanks to his ability to blend into the crew from the very first day on it was really a pleasure to have him on board. He is a true master with IT equipment and photography and could help sorting out some existing issues with our equipment (free of charge, thanks again). Sven was interested to learn how Journeyman works from the engine to the last piece of equipment. His sailing experience and technical understanding in general made it easy for him to grab the essential fast. At the steering Sven is safe and reliable as is his participation in all other tasks on board. When he left after two weeks I invited him to come back for some more sailing. All the best Sven and hope to have you on board again in the future, Gerhard
