Herne

Great to sail with.

Herne originally applied to join us onboard for an extended period during 2020. Sadly Covid restrictions precluded that voyage but it was therefore a pleasure to be able to sail with him for a short spell this year (2021) between his other career commitments. He joined us in Mallorca and spent a week onboard exploring the north coast. Herne has a quiet charm and a commitment to contribute; despite having little previous sailing experience, he applied himself to learn as much as he could during his limited time onboard. He is careful and considerate and immediately fitted well into a small crew who had already been sailing together for several weeks. Sadly the week coincided with very little wind but nevertheless, he quickly became a useful crew member whilst ‘learning the ropes’. He also went out of his way to contribute to onboard housekeeping and maintenance. Herne was a pleasure to sail with. I admired his careful determination to make the most out of a limited time onboard and I enjoyed his company and contribution to our collective explorations and short passage-making. I very much hope he will join us onboard again and, I’m the meantime commend him to others as a reliable, trustworthy and hardworking crew member. Thank you Herne, and good luck with your future plans.
