Looking for the next crewposition in Europe
Hi to all you sailors out there!
Who am I?:
I'm Leo, a 23 year old student from Germany.
Ready to meet new people, new places and new cultures. I love to travel and just firgured, that traveling by boat is the way I want to go, at least for now.
I would describe myself as openmined and outgoing, but yet not the most extroverted, loudest person. As much as I like meeting new people, I appreciate my close friends and meeting people that become friends for life. And I think sailing is a good mix of that. Getting to know the crew better, but always meeting some new people along the way.
For me it is important to be respectful and reliable and I like beeing organised.
I like sharing stories, good food or some music, am always up for a drink or a little party, but also like some quiet minutes for myself.
Besides sailing I play the guitar and like to sing together around the bonfire or maybe in the cockpit and also love bouldering/ rock climbing.
My plans:
For summer 2022 I already found the right boat to crew on. But if you think I could fit in your crew, feel free to contact me and maybe we will sail together another time.
But as I‘m starting my master studies soon, I won’t be able to leave Europe within the next 2-3 years.
My experience:
I started to get into sailing in summer last year (2020). Been sailing in the mediterranean for about 2 month on three very different boats and with very different crew. I could learn the first things about sailing such as helping with docking maneuvers, trimming sails, steering and also trying the first nightshifts (not too much and always with the skipper sleeping in the cockpit).
In 2021 I took every chance to get out on the water at home on the Baltic Sea. Sometimes on a Hobie cat, had the first try on a laser, joined some little, just for fun, regattas and went on daytrips with two friends on a J80.
I have experienced some seasickness, but mostly on the first day of the trip. Later during the trip I had some moments, in which I didn't feel great, but I got through it and I will get used to it I guess.
So I'm eager to learn more about sailing and boats and hope to make more great experiences, like I did last summer. And for sure I'm ready to help with everything that needs to be done.
If you think I could fit in your crew, I'm happy to hear from you!
The perfect crew
Leo responded to a short notice need we had an for crew to help sail from Tarragona to Cartagena via Mallorca and Ibiza. She was the perfect crew. She is adventurous by nature, keen to learn and picks skills up quickly - she is always ready to help with cleaning and domestic chores too. She is good company, a talented musician and fun to sail with. On an initial very rolly overnight downwind passage she did suffer from some early seasickness but got through it within a few hours and was fine for the rest of the trip - which also included some other unpleasant sailing conditions. I hope we’ll sail together again soon but, in the meantime, commend her to anyone looking for a reliable, trustworthy, tidy, and really helpful crew person.
