Looking for Captain or 1st Mate positions in charters or deliveries anywhere in the world.

I am looking to skipper sailboats (monohulls or catamarans) from 40 to 80 feet and with 3 to 10 people aboard (I can also be 1st mate for the right opportunity). My motivation is to continue building my career in sailing and at the same time getting to know other sailors (open to all levels of experience). I also enjoy teaching how to sail to new sailors, hold ASA 201, 203 and 204 instructor certifications and can combine chartering with teaching ASA courses.

I sail out of the City Island Yacht Club in the western part of the Long Island Sound (currently living in New York) but I have also sailed out of the Club Nautique in Sausalito when I was living in San Francisco. I have done 18 weekly bare-boats (as captain) and 11 charters (as crew) in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, US West/East Coasts and Great Lakes. I have also crewed in two passages/deliveries, one from Newport (RI) to St John (USVI) with one stop in Bermuda and another from St Thomas (USVI) to Baltimore (MD).

I am semi-retired from a career in software and hope to continue leveraging into sailing the skills in leadership, technical matters, problem solving and customer service that I acquired over the years. I keep myself fit by jogging, playing tennis, soccer, skiing and doing yoga. I am easy going, yet detailed oriented, particularly when it comes to safety.

Most fun and reliable captain

5

I have been on two week-long trips with Eduardo as our captain. For each trip, the work started well before the trip. Eduardo is a very meticulous planner and he had our course charted out by each half-day segment. He was open to incorporating our suggestions. He was very professional, willing and patient to teach, participate in all activities. We did face some challenges during our trips and Eduardo handled them with aplomb. We never had to fear for our safety. During our second trip with him, our electronic navigation system conked out. Eduardo was able to tell us how to troubleshoot different systems on the boat. And was able to navigate the boat safely to dock later that evening for repairs to be performed. If I had to pick a captain for another trip, I would not hesitate in picking him again.

Best Captain possible for a week in Antigua and Barbuda in the Caribbean

5

We spent one week on a Lagoon 50 Catamaran with Eduardo as Captain. We circled all the Island and even reached Barbuda in an awesome trip. Eduardo was all the time super professional and knowledgeable. We rented the boat on a third party company and it had several issues during the week but Eduardo was always there to fix things and make us all feel secured. It is in these types of situations when you understand the importance of having a good/professional captain on board. Without Eduardo, the week could have been challenging but with him, it was perfect. This is why I give him 5 stars and have already booked another week with him. This time in Menorca, Spain. Looking forward!!

Perfect skipper for family vacation on monohull around Tortola (BVI) 2023

5

We engaged EduardoS as a skipper for a family vacation in the BVI. We know how to sail, but felt more comfortable with an experienced skipper on board. Eduardo has a USCG 50 Ton Master certification and is an excellent sailor and teacher. He knows the BVI well and created a detailed itinerary for our entire trip. We moored and anchored at pristine secluded coves for swimming and snorkeling; locations we would never have found on our own. Eduardo had selected evening moorings with beautiful vistas and excellent dining. He has a great personality and was easy to share close-quarters with. Added bonus-- Eduardo is an excellent cook and happy to participate in family meal prep.
