Looking for opportunities to sail and make friends
Hi
I sold my Bavaria 37 in 2018 after six years of ownership sailing out of Portsmouth, largely due to my better half’s dislike of the sea.
We currently have a modest motor yacht near sunny Carcassonne on the Canal du Midi.
I have a little over 7000 miles in my sailing log book plus lots of time around the Solent.
My Bavaria took me to the Channel Islands, the Isles of Scilly and the French islands down to La Rochelle so I did what I was able to in a few weeks leave from work.
I have also since skippered a 50’ Beneteau for a French owner around Sardinia and Corsica and I’ve chartered 40’+ boats out of Corfu.
I’ve crossed the North Sea in the Bavaria, and Biscay 3 times on other boats one of which, a Malo 36 was knocked down (when I wasn’t the skipper)
I did my yachtmaster in Gibraltar which I know doesn’t really count as tidal but I think I’ve made up for that since.
I am now fully retired from my work as a building surveyor and on call firefighter and I'm looking to reconnect with the sea.
I have my own kit for all weathers and I’m willing to travel for the pleasure of sailing.
I am a relaxed skipper when in the role but also happy to take instructions as a deck hand, cook and pot washer etc. to maintain a happy ship.
I don't smoke but like a social drink when ashore. I live just south of Sheffield so “convenient” for everywhere.
I would prefer passage making rather than day sailing because of the necessary travel.
But thank you for reading if you’ve got this far.
