Captain and engineer with global aspersions.
I have an “uncompromising attitude”! I do the best, I work with the best, for those who appreciate the best!
Most often I am hired as Captain and Engineering for private boat owners traveling the world.
My boat license is Yacht Master 200 (sail) I have worked as a yacht rigger in the US VIrgin Islands. I have 30 years of yachting, many long passages including Atlantic crossings, many watches, years of deck work, lots of haul outs. My most recent positions are Captain of an 25 meter (85’) high performance global sailing catamaran (Azizam), Chief Engineer on a 39 meter (139’) ketch (Cyrano de Bergerac) and a delivery as skipper of a 36 meter (118’) schooner named (Yanneke Too). Just completed a delivery of a Fleming 65 from Athens to Gibraltar and a Outremer 5x catamaran from Gibraltar to the Grand Canary
To date I have sailed in the waters of 30 countries encompassing the Caribbean, Mediterranean Central America and parts of Asia. My desire is to circumnavigate the globe. When I come onboard a yacht I come with everything that is needed to captain the vessel including navigational equipment, vessel documentation software suites and equipment. I have both single and twin engine maneuver and docking skills.
I bring to the table 45 years of engineering experience and have both MCA AEC 1 & 2 to back it up.
I am proficient in repair and maintenance of system including engines, generators, hydraulic, stabilizers, water makers, electrical, electronics, plumbing. For sailboats I have captive winch and high load experience. I owned a home automation business for 12 years and am tech savvy and for the past 6 years done all the engineering activities on 3 private power yachts.
I have a European Union and Canadian passports so I can work anywhere in Europe, the Mediterranean and have a B1/B2 for the USA.
If something breaks or if the conditions are unearthly, I'm the man you want onboard to get you through the tough times.
As well as being a skilled and valuable asset to the vessel, I'm a pleasant, easy to get along with, funny, mature, fit, adventure seeking, and a professional team player. I'm sure we'll all have a great time! Looking forward to meeting you.
Pete
Exceptional Captain - extremely Knowledgeable, Professional Marine Engineer. Enjoyable personality
Peter Puky, essentially helped us get Inclusive Adventures off the ground and on the water quite literally by volunteering many months of his time and expertise! There are not enough thank yous or ways to to express our gratitude. If he had not come along when he had we would be at a very different place today. He spent the month of November 2019 cleaning up and refitting the engine room, intakes, fixing leaks and more on a 75' Motoryacht that had been on the hard for seven years, which was a dirty cold job without proper or sufficient resources. He figured it out, took it in stride without any help or supervision and instilled absolute trust with me. Then joined us in December 2019 on M/V Possibilities a 1979 62' Aluminum Pluckebaum Houseboat Motoryacht. With his help we traveled from Mobile Alabama to New Orleans Louisiana, he spent six weeks fixing all of the little things that were going to rear their ugly head in the near future, while being a wonderful valued and just enjoyable member of the crew! Then Peter, myself, and another volunteer cruised Possibilities along the Gulf Coast Intracoastal Waterway from New Orleans to Key West and then north to Miami and Fort Lauderdale. Whatever problem came up Peter resolved it. With him on board we didn't have to worry about what might go wrong. He was always teaching safety, navigation, materials and mechanical science. He never misses an opportunity to explain the reasoning behind something. With Peter as Captain everyone feels they are part of the decision and feels confident in the direction we are moving, when and why. Peter manages a variety of personalities, which can be more important to harmony and an enjoyable experience than anything else. Peter has done an excellent job documenting his expertise sailing around the world and moved on to much bigger and more challenging endeavors. So I don't need to attest to that. What I wanted this to describe was the type of man he is. The type of crewmember when you're living in close quarters many others. I never had to worry about him being conscientious of budget or expenses. He represented our organization with pride and professionalism and ultimately made us more as an organization serving mobility impaired disabled persons often in wheelchairs, wounded veterans, families with children with special needs! Peter helped us at a critical time. His contributions cannot be measured.
