Looking for a 1st Mate, Captain, Delivery Crew or Bosun position
My name is Alex – I am a passionate sailor, diver, and photographer. I have spent most of my life investing time and energy pursuing those passions, around which I developed a strong and lively social life, and always appreciated sharing my experiences.
Three seasons as an RYA Cruising Instructor and Bareboat Skipper have allowed me to hone my skills in vessel and crew management, and the delivery of high-end cruise-courses on monohulls and catamarans mainly in the Mediterranean, with positive feedback from guests, peers, and management. Other various engagements in the yachting industry have provided me exposure to yacht preparation and longer passage planning and execution, including yacht provisioning and maintenance, in the Mediterranean, Caribbean and South-East Asia.
I also bring the experience of a 10-year corporate career in Consulting and Human Resources in Dubai, which got me exposed to friends and colleagues from all walks of life both professionally and socially, hereby sharpening my skills both on a technical (problem-solving, analysis) and human (multiculturalism, learning and development, management) level. After realizing the corporate life did not bring me as much enjoyment as I had wished, I am now happily applying my ocean, human and practical skills as well as my high level of structure and professionalism to endeavors closer to my heart: yachting, and sharing the passion for it!
My CV speaks more at length about my yachting certifications and experience so I will keep things more focused on my personality here. Simply put, I know how to be patient, caring, and fun, while remaining serious and reliable when a situation requires it. I like getting things done, and to get them done well. I work well individually, and even better in a team both as member and as a leader. I enjoy bringing people together and ensuring everyone is looked after, and gets to learn while pulling towards a common goal.
I look forward to joining a crewed charter or owner’s yacht anywhere in the world with my partner Eleanor as chef/stew to ensure guests can enjoy a smooth, safe, and enriching experience while pushing my knowledge and abilities. I will bring my skills, experience, and positive attitude, and share it with guests and crew alike!
