Recherche bateau – Atlantic Crossing. Europe → Amérique central/du sud - Janvier 2026
Hey ! I am currently a 4th-year master’s student based in Strasbourg. As I plan to take a gap year starting September 2025, I am eager to fulfill one of my oldest dreams: crossing the Atlantic Ocean. With an internship scheduled from September to December 2025, I will be available from January/February onward for this adventure—a prime time for such a journey, as I’ve been told.
I am studying Law and Economics at Sciences Po Strasbourg (France) and Sophia University (Japan), where I spent the past year. My year abroad in Japan was a turning point in my personal life, opening my eyes to a new world and culture. It deepened my appreciation for human adventure and strengthened my ability to adapt to diverse environments.
I have explored various ways of traveling, from backpacking across Europe (from Lyon, my hometown, to several Central and Eastern European countries) to embarking on adventures throughout Japan. For instance, I spent a month “WWOOFing” (through a platform connecting hosts and volunteers) on the main island of Okinawa, working at an eco-farm and charity school. There, I shared daily life with dozens of local children and assisted the owners with farming and teaching in English and Japanese. These experiences taught me how to live in a community, share daily tasks, and adapt to lifestyles vastly different from my own.
These adventures have given me the courage to push my limits and embrace new challenges. That’s why I am thrilled at the prospect of sharing this ocean crossing with your crew. For me, this journey is far more than just a means of transportation—it’s a unique human adventure, an opportunity for personal growth, cultural exchange, and a profound connection with nature. Crossing the Atlantic symbolizes the ultimate test of resilience, teamwork, and adaptability. I am drawn to the challenge of navigating the open sea, embracing the unpredictability of the elements, and experiencing the raw beauty of the ocean.
I believe I am well-suited for this expedition for several reasons. First, I am physically and mentally prepared for the demands of such a journey. I lead an active lifestyle and have experience in outdoor activities that require endurance and problem-solving. Second, I am a team player who thrives in collaborative environments. I understand the importance of communication, mutual support, and shared responsibility, especially in close quarters and challenging conditions. In a nutshell, I am eager to step out of my comfort zone, learn new skills, and deepen my appreciation for the natural world. The opportunity to witness marine life, experience different cultures, and contribute to a shared goal is incredibly inspiring to me.
On a practical level, I have created my own vegetable garden in the French countryside, where I have been growing crops for several years. This experience has taught me patience, discipline, and self-reliance. I am also passionate about cooking and enjoy preparing meals for others, which could be an asset for the crew during long days at sea. I am more than willing to take on cleaning and maintenance tasks on board, as I understand that community living relies on sharing daily responsibilities.
As for sailing, I am a beginner but highly motivated to learn. I am aware that boat-hitching is not just a means of transportation but a journey in itself, where every crew member plays a crucial role. I am ready to fully commit to learning navigation techniques, taking on night watches, and adapting to the sometimes demanding rhythms of life at sea. I am also aware that seasickness can occur, and I have experienced it briefly during previous sea outings. While it may happen occasionally, I know how to manage and minimize it through simple techniques and proper preparation.
Lastly, I am a sociable, curious, and open-minded individual. I enjoy community living and firmly believe that human connections and exchanges are at the heart of any adventure. I have no time constraints and am fully prepared to dedicate myself to this experience, no matter its duration or the challenges that may arise.
