Looking for a Deckhand position
My name is Mailina, I’m 24 years old, and I’m from Hamburg, Germany. I’m currently working as a Banquet Supervisor in a hotel here in Hamburg.
A bit about me: I’ve been working on cruise ships since April 2022. After completing my hotel management training, I joined the Hanseatic Nature with Hapag Lloyd as a service steward. After two years, I transitioned to the Sea Cloud, a traditional three-masted sailing ship, where I spent this past winter. It was here that I first encountered traditional sailing, and I was immediately captivated.
While working onboard the Sea Cloud, I became deeply interested in deck operations—watching the crew handle the sails and navigate the ship sparked my passion for life on deck. I even spent my free time volunteering during sail commands, which only solidified my desire to pursue this career further.
Additionally, I’m a volunteer with the German organization aboard the training vessel Großherzogin Elisabeth, where I assist the deck crew during weekend trips. This has given me hands-on experience in watchkeeping, steering, and rigging work.
I am eager to continue building my skills and gain more practical experience as a deckhand or trainee. My contract with the Sea Cloud ended in August, and I’m available for immediate opportunities.
I’ve completed my STCW Basic Safety Training and hold a valid medical certificate for Seafarers. Please let me know if any other certifications are required or if you have any questions.
