Looking for Europe - Cape Verde/Senegal as Crew
We are Cléa and Tom, two french students, both 22, and have the dream to go from Europe to Senegal by boat. That means that we are really interested if you go to Cape Verde, Madeira, or even the Canary Islands ! We are available from mid January to embark (almost until the end of the summer, we have a lot of time), and we are really flexible about the starting point, as long as it is in Europe. We like to hit the road together : we went from Brussels to Warsaw hitchhiking and we are now eager to try boat hitchhiking ! We are not afraid to face problems (we know that life on a boat isn’t a walk in the park) and we are not demanding for any comfort : we are used to sleeping in tents, hammocks or under the stars. We like living with others, listening to the adventures of people and debating during hours (especially Tom). We will be able to help you with all the chores on the boat.
I am Cléa and I come from the south of France so I’m used to live near the sea. I did a lot of catamaran training and several days of monohull in Brittany. Most importantly, I am really comfortable in, under and over the water, and I am really motivated to learn sailor’s tricks. It makes me dream to do a long trip by boat, to live in a tiny space with others and even to take night watches until 4AM (!).
I am Tom, I come from the French mountains, and I love to explore them, either by walking, running or climbing. I am really well organized and it doesn’t bother me to prepare my adventure really well ! I have already sailed some days and I am not prone to seasickness, and even as a beginner, I am really motivated to learn how to maneuver a boat. I am really attracted by an adventure on the sea and by living on a boat, as these are things I still didn’t discover during my studies to become a forester.
