YACHT CAPTAIN/CREW MEMBER
I am flying out to Antigua again 13 November 2024 to work as a skipper for a charter group/company or for a private yacht owner. I will be available to meet with interested parties from 14 November to discuss sailing/charter plans and crew requirements. It is my intention to do that for a 2 week period to secure a suitable position as skipper/relief skipper or crew member depending on the sailing requirements and opportunity to spend as much quality sailing time in the Caribbean as possible during the peak season.
I am USCG licensed skipper with lengthy experience of sailing in the Caribbean and previously working as a skipper in the BVI for lengthy engagements on various yachts taking private charters on tours around the BVI’s sailing and scuba diving. Consequently I know the BVI and dive sites there very well. Over the years I have travelled to the BVI many times sailing and diving as well as other Islands like Antigua, Barbados, St Lucia etc and other places in the Med. I have done various sailing and diving tours on various wrecks, the famous “Wreck of the Rhone" for instance in BVI to the Stav in Barbados and cave diving in Cyprus. I'm looking to work as a skipper on any sailing opportunity or just cruising the Caribbean for a private yacht owner doing all daily tasks of running a yacht at sea from port to port or predominantly at anchor. I have no time limitations. I am able to take on any sailing commitment short or long and happy to work on yacht maintenance including mechanics, electrics, plumbing, provisioning, cooking etc. I am looking to stay in the Caribbean on yachts as a skipper, relief skipper or crew member for long or short term engagements. I am also a highly experienced diver with PADI certification and teaching experience. I am very fit and healthy, I play golf and tennis almost every day and currently sail in The Solent UK. I am presently based in Portsmouth UK. I have no commitments or family ties to impede me taking on any challenging yacht sailing opportunity. I was last in the Caribbean in Antigua November 2023 and the BVI in 2018 where I skippered a Beneteau Oceanis 45 assisted by one trainee crew member. Recently sailing Beneteau Oceanis 40 and Moody 30 on The Solent notorious very busy shipping waterway with highly variable tides, currents and strong winds requiring mature seamanship. Next out again 14 September weather permitting!
