Operations Manager
Oversee the daily operations of The Majestic Line,ensuring smooth and efficient functioning
The role involves coordinating with various departments,ensuring stock and provisions are ordered and received (consumables,food beverages)efficiently,timely to a high quality
Managing budgets,ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements and enhancing passenger satisfaction
The Operations Manager will also handle customer service issues,resolve conflicts,and implement policies to improve efficiency and profitability
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day operations of the company's cruise boats,ensuring all aspects run smoothly and efficiently
Coordinate with various departments including engineering,cleaning and domestic services,cruise co-ordinators/sales/customer service to maintain high service standards
Manage budgets,momitor expenses and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements
Handle customer service issues,resolve conflicts and implement policies to enhance passenger satisfaction
Plan itIneraries and crew schedules,manage logistics and oversee staff training and performance
Regularly review operational systems and processes and make strategic decisions to improve efficiency and profitability
Ensure compliance with maritime regulations and safety standards
Coordinate with port authorities,suppliers and other agents to ensure smooth operations
Handle emergencies and unexpected issues,such as weather disruptions or mechanical problems
Manage and coo-ordinate turnaround days in Oban,catch lines,check in with crews,support skippers with passage plans,ensure all provisions are ordered efficiently and quality appropriate and adequate to requirements
Conduct regular meetings with various departments to discuss logistics,staffing,and upcoming itineraries
Manage recruitment and retention of off-shore crew ensuring high levels of interaction,feedback and employee engagement
Directly line manage the off-shore crews supporting all people issues concerns in conjuction with HR ensuring remedies are in place for any issues that may present
Ensure employee health,wellness and safety are a prority with risk assesments and action plans in place to remedy short comings
Work in partnership with the crew and engineering to ensure any and all defects are reported in a timely and appropriate manner by the crew and rectified to enable continuance of safe,service delivery
Any other duties and tasks that support the continuance of the safe,quality delivery of cruises
Preferred Experience
Business Administration,Hospitality Management or related field
Proven experience of Operations Management,preferably in the travel or cruise industry
Strong Organisational and leadership skills
Excellent communications and problem-solving abilities
Thorough understanding of safety regulations and procedures
Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations
Preferred Skills
Experience with budget management and financial planning
Knowledge of maritime regulations and safety standards
Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and stakeholders
Working Conditions
This role will require working irregular hours,including evenings,weekends and holidays
The role will be based in Oban to support vessels and crew and mange supplier relationships
The Operations Manager may need to travel occasionally across the operating network and act as a emergency crew member if there are no alternative qualified personnel
