Requirements for Captain
Seeking a Captain who:
Has a license that allows for charter work all over the world and that will satisfy the insurance company.
Has a minimum 2 years experience aboard a sailing catamaran over 50 feet and has great references.
Has a willingness and desire to work both on charter (approx 10 weeks per year) and for the owner and their guests.
Has at least basic engineering knowledge and is comfortable operating, maintaining and doing basic repairs on a new boat’s various systems including diesel engines, generators, lithium batteries, solar panels, plumbing, watermakers, etc.
Has strong communication skills and is fluent in English.
Has the ability and desire to provide exceptional guest service.
Has an abundance of patience. Owner is fairly new to sailing and requires a captain who is excited to teach what they know.
Has an interest in wind sports, including kiting and foiling. This would be a major plus, but is not mandatory.
Has a desire to make a long-term commitment to a multi year around-the-world adventure.
Captain Responsibilities -
Act as a partner with the owner in overseeing and executing a multi year journey around the world.
Conduct regular and meticulous maintenance of the yacht to ensure it is in top condition as well as log and maintain detailed records regarding maintenance and other ship matters.
Oversee guest services and deliver a high level of hospitality during charter trips.
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols.
Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills in all aspects of the role as captain.
Mate/Chef Responsibilities
-Assist the Captain in all aspects of their responsibilities
- Prepare approximately one-third to one-half of the meals onboard while the owner is present,
-Act as steward/stewardess
-Prepare all meals during charter operations
Itinerary
Yacht will circumnavigate the globe over 5 to 8 years. Owner will be onboard between 6 and 9 months per year. Owner onboard for most if not all crossings and passages.
Boat will be available for charter approx 10 weeks per year, wherever it is in the world.
