Captain - Temporary / Seasonal - £TBC - United Kingdom
The Skipper is responsible for the safety of the vessel,guests and crew during charters and while docked.The role involves overseeing all aspects of the vessel's operation,ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for guests
Vessel Operations
Manoeuvre the boat on and off the dock,to anchorages and other required movements
Collaborate with engineer to manage fuel levels,order fuel,and handle bunkering
Plan passages for charters,considering weather conditions and guests requests for destinations
Make ultimate decisions on anchorages and tender trips ashore based on weather conditions
Maintain daily logs on each charter,including weather condition,anchoring details and timings
Ensure all Seaflux entries,logs.maintenance records ,SMS drill logs,passage plan logs and crew records are up to date
Perform day-to-day maintenance of the ships tender,including fuel,lines and engine
Maintain chart corrections
Ensure notifications are made when entering and leaving ports with appropriate authorities
Guest Interaction
Act as host and assist with the hospitality when available
Impact local Knowledge and suggest suitable itineraries for guests
Be on rota for bar duties with guests onboard
Liaise with chef to enable the purchasing and collection of the fresh produce at appropriate locations
Safety and Compliance
Respond to all onboard emergencies along with all other crew members until the resolved
Be thoroughly aware of all safety standards for all onboard
Maintain health and safety Standards for all onboard
Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures
Crew Management
Supervise,mentor,support and manage three crew members onboard
Maintain health and safety standards for all onboard
Communications
Advise the shore-based team of boat's movements where appropriate
Provide daily updates to shore team on the vessel's movements
Liaise with shore-based team as required
Financial Responsibilities
Manage cash control in collaboration with the chef and steward
Oversee the replenishment of the vessel after each cruise in conjuction with other crew members
Qualifications
Valid Skippers ticket
Extensive experience in maritime operations,preferably in a similar role
Strong Knowledge of maritime safety regulations and procedures
Excellent navigation and seamanship and seamanship skills
Ability to manage and mentor a small crew
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure
Knowledge of local waters in the West Coast of Scotland and weather conditions is an advantage
